| This plane has two 6-inch diameter, high-pitch props from an Ikara Kolibri rubber-powered ARF kit. John says each prop is driven at fairly low RPM by a Solarbotics 25:1 reduction planetary gearbox / 6 mm pager motor "sealed" assembly (available from John Worth at www.Cloud9rc.com). The lifting surfaces are covered with very lightweight mylar ribbon from a Kodak photo printer. This model spans 15 inches and weighs 19 grams. In the air, John describes this plane as having an intriguing appearance with a docile climb/cruise/descent. |
