AirMigi Plane
The AirMigi is a slow flying micro plane made of balsa wood and tissue. This plane has a 12 inch wingspan with a wing area of 36 square inches. This AirMigi design has proven to be very durable with over a year of flying and no major damage. LiPo cells from 85 to 200 mAh can be used with this plane. The longest flight time was a little over 55 minutes outdoors using a Fullriver 200 mAh cell. Plans, instructions, photos, and a video are below. AirMigi kits with printed plans, instructions, laser cut wing ribs, brass wire, and heat shrink tubing are available for $8 each.
The electronic gear used on the AirMigi pictured below was made by MicroInvent, and Gasparin. A MicroInvent MINOR receiver, two MCA2 actuators, and a Gasparin 4.5:1 ratio gearbox/motor with a 4" carbon fiber prop. A Gasparin GB26S7O 2.6:1 gearbox/motor could also be used. Micro wheels and control horns are available on the Misc page. Other gear can be used with the AirMigi like a Micro9 3 channel RX, and MiniAct actuators from Plantraco. A Plantraco 7mm direct drive motor with a Tri-turbofan prop was used on the prototype of this plane.
Build it, fly your creation, and have fun.
